Why Halloween? |
| A lot of visitors have written and asked "Why Halloween?" "Why would you work so many long hours all year long to create a FREE Halloween web site that most people only visit during September and October. Allow me to explain, please. |
 I
guess I have loved Halloween ever since I was a child growing up in Massachusetts.
In the Fall, the leaves on the trees turned to brilliant shades of orange, yellow
and red. When the leaves fell from the trees, the wind would blow them down
the streets in unbelievably beautiful swirls of color. There were pumpkins on
doorsteps everywhere and the county fair was displaying the largest pumpkins. |
 I
have fond memories of the paper jack-o-lanterns filled with candycorn candy
at the "Five & Dime" store wrapped in orange cellophane paper
topped off with an orange bow. I still remember looking at the Halloween decorations,
the designs were very mysterious to this young lad. |
I would linger as long as possible in the department stores looking at all the
new Halloween costumes with those crummy plastic masks and thinking of what
I would like to wear when that special night finally came - Halloween! When
we didnt have costumes we would rub a burnt cork on our face and go as hobo's.
Can you belive that kids wore costumes like this? What a great time of year
Halloween was, you could feel the excitement in the air. With every passing
day in October the excitement would built until finally October 31 was here.
Halloween became, and still is, my favorite holiday. |
 I'm
grown now and times are different, but I still love decorating around the house
and yard for Halloween. The more the scarier. I overheard the neighborhood children
saying "lets go trick-or-treat at that spooky house." They were pointing at
our home. To a true Halloween lover, that's the equivalent of winning an oscar. |
 Back
to the question, "why did I create this web site?" Close your
eyes if you will, and visualize yourself as a child happily trick-or-treating
door to door, coming home with a huge bag of candy or celebrating the day at
a Halloween party with friends. This is why I created this web site as a gift
for that child you now see within yourself. It is because of these fond memories
that I want to share Halloween as I remember it with you. I decided to build
this web site so today's children will have fond memories of Halloween like
I have. This web site is dedicated to children of all ages who still
enjoy Halloween.I love working on my computer so even though I was forced into retirement by illness, I decided I would make a fun, safe web site for everyone who enjoys Halloween and still use my computer skills. This is my gift to children ages 1 to 100, who love Halloween as I do. All the planning, design, graphics, coding and maintenance on this site is a one man operation. It has taken over a year of work to complete it. Hopefully this site will have a positive effect on you and you will find the fun side of Halloween that I knew as a child and you will have your own wonderful Halloween memories.
