| Why Halloween? |
| Some visitors have written and asked me "Why Halloween?" Why would you work all year long to create a FREE Halloween web site that people only visit in the Fall? My name is Daniel, Allow me to explain please. |
I
have always loved Halloween ever since I was a child growing up in Massachusetts.
Where, in the Fall the leaves turn to bright shades of orange, yellow and
red. And the wind would blow them down the streets in unbelievably beautiful
swirls of color. There were pumpkins on doorsteps everywhere. |
I
have very fond memories of the paper mache' jack-o-lanterns at the
"Five & Dime" store wrapped in orange cellophane. I
still remember looking at the Halloween decorations, the designs were
very mysterious to this young kid. |
I would linger as long as possible in the 5 & 10 cent stores looking
at the new Halloween costumes with those thin plastic masks and deciding
on what I would wear when Halloween finally came! Sometimes we didn't have
money for costumes, so we would rub a burnt cork on our face for a beard
and go as a hobo. What a great time of year Halloween was, you could feel
the excitement in the air. Halloween became, and still is, my favorite holiday.

Back
to the question, "Why Halloween?" Close your eyes and visualize yourself
as a child happily trick-or-treating door to door, coming home with a big
bag of candy. That's why I created this web site, it is because of these
fond memories that I wanted to share. I decided to build this web site so
all children and adults will have fond memories of Halloween like I have.
All the planning, design, graphics, coding and work on this site is
a one-person operation. It is a culmination of over 7 years of work. It
grows more popular each year. I have had over 88,000,000 hits on this site.
For me, a true Halloween lover, that's like winning a Hollywood Oscar.
Hopefully this site will help you will find the fun side of Halloween
that I knew as a child and you can make your own wonderful Halloween memories.Sincerely, Daniel 1Halloween Webmaster
