- Make sure the costume is flame retardant.
- Colorfast so it won't discolor clothes if it rains.
- Does it fit right? Baggy costumes can make kids slip on stairs.
- Wear shoes that fit properly and avoid high-heels
- Some masks don't allow for proper vision.
- Remember some people are allergic to rubber masks.
- Wigs, hats and beards shouldn't cover eyes or mouth.
- For visibility at night, choose light colored costumes.
- Use reflective tape to keep trick-or-treaters visible and safe.
- Toy swords, pitchforks and other weapons should be flexible.
- Realistic-looking guns should never ever be carried.
- Be cautious near lit pumpkins and candles with baggy clothing.
