It's almost time for Halloween again, but your garden can still play a big role and does not have to be put to bed just yet. A scary garden is the perfect way to greet trick-or-treating guests. Halloween theme gardens have become a very popular way to express yourself.
• A cauldron-shaped pot makes a great feature in a flowerbed.
• Stack several pumpkins on top of each other to make a topiary.
• Take advantage of sunny days and cool nights in the Fall.
• Take cuttings of geraniums to carry them into next season.
• Dig and pot herbs for a winter window sill herb garden.
• Bring in gourds that have been drying outdoors.
•Collect perennial seeds as they ripen.
• Fall is the time to cut herbs & flowers for drying.
• Dig, divide and replant or share surplus day lilies.
• Mulch mow your leaves. It's easy and environmentally sound.
• Water perennials, shrubs and trees if rain has been sparse,.
• Shred some leaves for later use as winter protection mulch.
• Remove foliage debris in flower beds to rid disease organisms.
• Fall is best to plant trees before the late rains come.
