Jack-O-Lantern Mat |

What you need
• Assorted acrylic paints
• 3 6"- squares stencil paper
• masking tape
• Natural bristle doormat
• Tracing paper
• X-acto Knife |
1. Draw
a pumpkin on a 6_inch square piece of Tracing paper, when it is exactly the
way you want it, transfer the image to the center of 3 stencil squares that
have been taped together. Use an X-act knife to cut away the background rectangle
for Stencil 1, Jack-O-Lantern for Stencil 2, and face, nose, mouth for Stencil
3, leaving outer stencil edges intact. Wash stencils or let paint dry before
changing colors, or cut extra stencils. Paint will dry fast.
2. Plan colors and three rows of pumpkins spaced half inch apart across the
mat. Tape between rows.
3. Stencil a few backgrounds, swirling brush to cover tips of mat bristles;
let dry. Stencil a pumpkin in each space, with or without background; let dry.
Stencil faces; let dry than remove tape. |
R.I.P. Doormat |

What you need
• Acrylic paint- Black/white
• ConTact paper
• masking tape
• Bristle or smooth doormat
• Sponge Paint brush
• Ruler
• X-acto Knife |
•1. PRINT "R.I.P." about 10" high, on tracing paper. Cut stencil for (RIP) letters and periods from contact paper using an X-acto Knife. Guide the straight cuts with a ruler, cut shapes whole to use later as masks. Leave the background intact.
•2. Center the stencil on doormat and secure it at edges with pins. Paint the letters solid black with a piece of sponge. Let dry. Remove stencil.
•3. Mix a small amount of black and white paint together to make gray.
•4. Pin cutouts over painted letters as masks. Sponge gray shadows to left of letters. Remove masks. Let dry.
•5. Tape outer edges of a .5"-wide border stripe about I" in from the mats edge. Paint the stripe black. Let dry. Remove tape. Cover stripe with tape. Paint gray shadows. |
