Encephalitis Cases

Sheri
My name is Sheri Stanley, I had Chickenpox Encephalitis at age 7 that was in 1973. The only thing I remember from Encephalitis is that one time my mom had to put me in the tub with ice cubes and cold water and another time the nurses were holding me down in the emergency room. I don't have any memory of about a year before or a year after. My family doesn't discuss it much so I don't know a lot about it. I know that I do have the problems that I have found on this web site just recently.
  • No sense of direction
  • Short & long term memory loss
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Sensitivity to Light & Sound
  • Low self esteem
  • Depression
  • Word finding difficulties
  • Slowed Responses
  • Personality Changes, Etc.

I have always felt something was wrong with me. I didn't do well in school as a child. Was very rebellious as a teenager and had a very bad temper. My parents divorced when I was 13, the judge asked who I would like to stay with and I chose to go with my dad. At this time my mom deserted me, and I her. This didn't help any at all. At age 16 I couldn't get along with my step mother and my dad asked me to leave. I was on my own at age 16 and quit school. Went down the wrong road with the wrong crowd. I don't think my parents or I knew that the encephalitis affected me. But now I know it did.

I'm now married to a wonderful man; our 1st anniversary was this past April. This is my second Marriage after a terrible divorce. My husband and I now go to Church and have been saved. I couldn't ask for better. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that the Lord will take care of us if we put our faith in him.

I went back to school and got my diploma about ten years ago and just finished college at Southern Wesleyan University last year. I worked full time while going to college full time. It was tough, especially with my memory trying to study and take test.

I'm now an Administrative Office Manager at an Investment company. I long to be a mother, but have had problems getting pregnant. I just wonder if having the high fever from the encephalitis affected my reproductive system? I had a miscarriage in 1994 in my previous marriage and also had a tubal pregnancy in 1995 that was a 3 month term that had to be removed with my left tube. I now only have one working side and have been desperately trying for about a year. I wonder is the fever affected my eggs?

If anyone has any information on fertility and encephalitis please let me know. Or if anyone just wants to email me concerning encephalitis feel free.
Thank you,
God bless you all!
