Mary is my mother-in-law. One day she had a mild cold and fever, then sounded disoriented, so
we took her to the ER. They decided to keep her overnight, and during the course of the night
she had a seizure, was in a coma for few days, then was in intensive care for one month.
Many MRIs have not determined the cause. Mary spent two months in a rehab,
and now is home alone. She has a few residual effects of the
illness, mainly memory loss and dizziness. Our main problem
is that even though she is doing well considering her condition,
she wants to dwell on the illness, causes and effects, and
would very much like to have someone to talk to about encephalitis.
We live in the Boston area and if anyone knows about a support
group, I'd appreciate the info. Her neurologist did not have
any information for her.
