I was 29 when I got encephalitis from chicken pox. Never having them as a child, I really thought I was immune to them. When I was a child
my best friend who sat right next to me got them and I did not, and then my nephews came down with chicken pox and we lived right down
stairs from them. Then when my niece got them she was hospitalized and I visited her, and still did not get them. But when my second child
came home from school with them I wasn't so lucky, needless to say I was real sick.
Chickenpox for adults can be dangerous. I do not remember to much of being sick. My Mother In law took the kids for the weekend so I could
rest, I have four children. I remember laying down on the couch to get some rest and the next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital.
All my family and friends were there. I was scared and real confused, it was weird to be honest. I never told anybody this before but
I didn't know every day things right away like what year it was and things like that.
I was in the hospital for 21 days, 14 of them in a medical induced coma my oxygen level was at 20 %. They told me I would have to learn
to walk again. I didn't believe them. They were right after falling out of bed when nobody was looking they restrained me in bed. But
after therapy I learned to walk again. I am deaf in my left ear. I loose feeling in my hands and drop things a lot. I have a slight problem
remembering little things, and I get lost often its frustrating I have a terrible sense of direction. I would really like to thank each
and every one of you for your stories I thought I was just slow and kind of stupid before I readed your stories now I know I just have
a illness. People told me I was lucky to be alive, I know its true because I have a wonderful patient husband and four of the greatest
kids any mom could ever ask for. By the way my kindergardener just graduated high school last week and will join the navy to be a diver
in Nov. I told you I had great kids.
