Hello my name is Kim. I am 31 years. The medical staff still doesn't know what kind of Encephalitis I had. In August 2001, I brought myself to the hospital with a 104.5 temperature and uncontrollable shaking, it ended up being seizures. Within twenty minutes they said it was meningitis but it could be Encephalitis. But no one had a clue. During the next five days I was told that I was overdosing on drugs or I was withdrawing from alcohol. The only drugs in my system were the ones they put there and, I do love to drink but I don't think that was the case after the amount of time.
I spent 29 days in the hospital and my bed was changed once and that was by my mother. I was accused of things I had never done. I was told that I had STD's; I was told that I was going to be put in a mental hospital.
I then got new doctors, thanks to my mother, and they at least took a different approach. The MRI's were ok, the EEG's were ok, and the CAT scans were ok.
There is more to the story but ...why dwell on it.
