My name is Gary and I am writing on behalf of my daughter Helene. Helene contacted viral encephalitis at the age of 6, that was in 1968. We lived at the time in Rockland
County, New York. Helene was born perfectly normal, and suddenly fell sick with Viral Encephalitis. She
was in the Mount Sinai hospital in New York for several weeks, and in a coma for about a week or so.
She has seizures, and is on medication for them. Dialantin and Mysolene. She has been left with a
learning disability, and can't read very much. Helene lives in New York City, and is capable of taking care
of herself. Very determined. However, her problem has been and still is Socialization. We have been
seeking social groups for Helene but haven't been successful.
If you can help shed some light for us, it sure would be appreciated.
