Hi. I acquired Herpes Encephalitis at age 11 during Sixth grade, 1994. Full symptoms of the virus hit on Halloween night. I was hospitalized after I was found in a full seizure mode in the bathroom at a Halloween party. I was hospitalized in the UCLA
medical center, California, and was kept in Intensive care for a month and a half. Symptoms: raging fever, short-term memory loss, seizure (only one in my life, that night) and hives.
Doctors came to analyze me, and I received counseling to get my memory back. I
took medicine through IV-treatment. I was finally remembering
who I was, it gave hope to the doctors that I would live, and
was released December 16th. 1994. I was tutored by my science
and history teachers to catch up on what I missed.
I still forget some things like what I did or what happened yesterday, and anything
I do not have written down. The only disability from the virus
is on my photographic memory, I have to remember things through
pictures but all my pictures are fuzzy and don't help me remember.
I assume I was infected by a mosquito.
Thanks for this site,
