My name is Callie and I got encephalitis in October 2000 when I was 34. I live in Ireland and I would love to speak to other people who have had encephalitis. Here is my story.
Encephalitis struck out of the blue. I had no warning. Just a pain in my head that morning. Lucky for me a friend of mine noticed how unwell I was and called an ambulance. Within hours I was on life support. I was on that for a week and in a critical care ward for another 3 weeks. In that time I went back to babyhood and was very aggressive. Thank God I came out of that. Even though it has been a year and a half, I suffer from headaches and terrible tiredness, but it is a small price to pay for being alive.
Thanks a million.
