I was 26 when I fell ill with Viral Encephalitis in September 6, 2004 (I'll never forget the day). I was out of work for four months and couldn't drive for six. I had seizures and almost went into kidney failure when I first went home because of too much medication.

The doctor's never told me very much and I would much love to connect with others experiencing the same life changing things I am. It would make such a difference to have someone "validate" some of the issues I now battle everyday. I lost my sense of taste and smell. I was already a very passionate person about causes concerning children and the helpless, but it's become such an overwhelming feeling now. I can be very emotional when I see someone else hurting. To make the extent understood, I won't even kill bugs half the time anymore. I'll pick them up and take them outside no matter what it is. You become such an exaggerated form of your former self that it's like learning a whole new person.

I feel like I'm watching myself now, not that I am me. I look forward to being able to connect with others soon.
